A sock...a Potmatomus

One sock is done! I love vacations, especially to my in-laws…lots of time to knit! I even followed the pattern, mostly. I did change needle size to 1 so it would be smaller to fit size 8 feet and I also omitted one pattern repeat on the legs so it would be shorter…which actually makes these the tallest socks I’ve made yet. I tried grafting with a knitting needle which worked out fine, I think grafting with a tapestry needle is faster for me. However, it is good to know how to do this if I have only the knitting needles with me.

Productive Thanksgiving...

I knit and knit and knit...I have my no-hood Rogue all knit up. I want to dye it a different color, so I will seam it afterwards. I'm still up in the air over the color. If I could manage a nice deep chocolate brown with purplish tinge to it I would love that. If not, maybe a nice deep blue/violet color. Hmmm.

I've started Potmatomus socks with dye-your-own merino sock yarn from Knitpicks...nothing to see yet as I am following the top down pattern and only have a bit of ribbing so far.

Note to self: Thoughts on Cormo sweater....

I love Rogue, but want to leave out the hood this time and I am intrigued by the Hybrid Sweater (I first saw on brooklyn tweed) so I am thinking of combining the two. Rogue is knit in the round bottom up and then split at the sleeves for front & back. Then I could do the Hybrid thing? I have Elisabeth Zimmerman's NWOT so I will have to consult it to see if this will work. I am using Cormo yarn and love the wooly feel, but no scratchiness. I was going to dye the yarn, but was impatient to start and so maybe I will dye it afterwards since I don't think I will wear this natural cream color.

Hot Socks Swap Received!

Oh boy! When that doorbell rings in the middle of the day, it's time to be excited because yarn and coffee and goodies arrive. Thanks to Nic for sending a wonderful box of goodies all the way from the UK. It is all so yummy looking that it feels like my birthday. The coffee looks good, the candies will be stolen by my kids and the yarn is divine! Lastly, the needles, such cute little bamboo needles. I love their short length and can hardly wait to use them!
Thanks, Nic! I hope your pal treated you just as special.
